Accessing NVR/DVR's web interface
Some older NVRs and DVRs require a browser plugin (often ActiveX-based) to view live feeds or playback. These plugins are not supported in modern browsers like Chrome or Firefox, but you can still access these systems using Microsoft Edge with Internet Explorer Mode.
1. Enable Internet Explorer Mode in Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click the three dots (⋯) in the top right corner and go to Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, click Default browser.
- Under Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode, select Allow.
- Click Restart to apply changes.
2. Access the NVR/DVR
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- In the address bar, type the IP address of your NVR/DVR (e.g.,
http://192.168.1.80:8080) and press Enter. - When the page loads, you may see a message prompting you to use Internet Explorer or download a plugin.
3. Open the Site in IE Mode
- Click the three dots (⋯) in Edge again.
- Select Reload in Internet Explorer mode.
- The site will now reload using IE compatibility.
- You may see a banner confirming you're in IE mode—check the box for "Open this page in Internet Explorer mode next time" if you frequently use this site.
4. Install the Required Plugin
- Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the plugin.
- Close and reopen Edge after installation.
- Return to the NVR/DVR site and reload it in IE mode again.
- You should now be able to log in and view camera feeds or recordings.
Tips
- Bookmark the NVR/DVR IP address for quick access.
- If the video feed still doesn't load, try running Edge as Administrator or check for compatibility settings on the NVR/DVR.
